Looks to be Trump

       Imagine, after all the hee - hawing, the funny faces, smirks, name calling, Jimmy Fallon jokes, dude looks like he may actually make it. This guy might just soon be the new president of the United States. At first it seemed a joke. A few years ago my wife and I were laughing at him while viewing the Apprentice. The general public most knew him for often stating his famous phrase: "your fired". Mr Proud To Be A Billionaire might soon likely be talking like that face to face to people like Bashar al-Assad, and Kim Jong-un. The first year of his presidency will likely be the most comedic, parodied, presidential term in world history. One will definitely have to tape Saturday Night Live at least for the first month just to witness the kind of jokes and satire those clowns will create from an accomplishment of this one time reality tv star. No, not only a star, but a billionaire star who ended up being the funniest presidential candidate ever to run for the big office. But not only is he funny, what is really humorous is that this guy may actually win.
       No I am not voting for Donald Trump. Sadly I am beginning to lose faith in the guy I really want to win. I believe that he, Ben Carson, would have been a great president but the media, when he was winning, kept throwing punches and jabs at him and he was not able to fight back strongly. I understand that some people think he is weak and that he did not fight back with a strong voice, but as I have heard lately, the person with the loudest voice is not always necessarily the strongest, nor most importantly the wisest. But at least for the Republican primary Trump seems to be bashing everybody to pieces. Only Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio appear to have a chance and those two, especially Rubio, will crumble off the playing field if the game does not change quickly. Reading the current standings Trump is ahead in states like Alabama and Oklahoma. He has already won New Hampshire and Nevada and is faring well in Iowa and South Carolina, states that are usually dominated by more evangelical candidates. It does not seem like the south will pull for the evangelical opponent this election, especially since the most evangelical of them all, Mike Huckabee, fell out of the race weeks ago. Maybe the South had enough of always supporting the evangelical opponent, or maybe Donald Trump's strong words and signs of strength is enough for most Republican voters to convince them that when he comes to office he will not be there to play around with folks like Jeff Merkley, Tammy Baldwin, or the ACLU. He is actually there to win and to tell the ACLU, People for the American Way, and groups like Naral Pro Choice America to go jump of a cliff. America does not have to bow down to them nor do her citizens owe them anything. Many people I have spoken to say they like Donald Trump because he is not politically correct. He is not afraid to say what is on his mind. He does not allow the media to push him around. I agree. He does not allow the Liberal Party to push him around or allow news pushers to allow him to feel ashamed for disagreeing with them. He does not feel uncomfortable about attending a show like The View and telling a Whoopie Goldberg to go fly a kite. I believe that was what was missing from past Republican candidates like Mitt Romney and John McCain, and what is happening to Ben Carson. They all have difficulty talking straight to the media in a strong, tough manner, while telling them that they could care less what Barbara Walter's or whoever star's opinion is or whatever is the data of the day, "this is what I believe and this is where I stand".
       But the election is not over yet and I am still rooting for Ben Carson. Hope he wins. There is still some months left. On the Democratic side it looks like Hilary Clinton's going to win it by a land slide but how will she do against Donald Trump? That will be an interesting show. On an article I read months ago it showed that if Bernie Sanders won the Democratic nomination he would have a better chance of beating Trump then Clinton. "Hhmmm". But that was written months ago. Who knows what will happen now? But I bet that more than 90 percent of those Democrats voting did not think about that.

A Passing of a Judicial Hero

       Last night while viewing the headlines of a taping of the evening news my heart sank while hearing of the passing of a judicial hero, Justice Antonin Scalia. Appointed to the court in 1986 by former President Ronald Reagan, Scalia served as a member of the Supreme Court for more than thirty years. He was a hero for true conservatives. Many members of Congress and political leaders will publicly profess that they are serious followers of Jesus Christ, but soon after voted into their specific office will begin serving and following orders of the media or various Liberal big wigs who make a career out of telling politicians and members of the public what to do. Judge Scalia stood up to the Liberal attackers and their media buddies by not backing down to their threats by voting against abortion, gay marriage, by voting for American's rights to have guns, against laws that were biased for minority and women. He voted to strike out the laws that made distinctions between races, gender, and sexual orientation. He stood up for the death penalty being constitutional. Judge Scalia's theme was to analyze and apply to the rulings what is already written in the Constitution not to change it based on Media ranting and supposed change of mood of the American culture.
       Liberal media is on a mission to change America partly by changing the constitution into a group of laws that are entirely different than what was initially created and intended by our Founding Fathers. John Adams, James Madison, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, and Alexander Hamilton never intended to make homosexuality into a big fuss, a behavior to be honored and supported by every individual like it or not. These political figures never supported a woman choosing to kill her baby so that she can have sex whenever and with whomever she wants while living a life full of convenience. They never intended to place extra burden on rich, successful Americans to carry on their backs the daily needs of the family and people who are less successful. Yet everyday the Constitution and rulings in the court are being described and interpreted into something entirely different. An attempt by Liberal Media and political non-christians to turn America into something entirely different than what The United States was intended to be. An attempt to turn America into an atheist, immoral, hedonistic country similar to the people described by Paul in Roman 1:21-22 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.
       Liberal media is on a mission to change America. But a Christian who is well versed in the Scriptures understands that electing a specific judge or president is not going to change the country into a true Christian nation, what it was originally intended to be. It will help in regards to backing up Christian men and women who desire to live and enjoy a lifestyle described by God without receiving continued harassment by non-christian people. A pro - Christian judge or president will help in  keeping irate Liberals and media members off the backs and yards of Christian people, God fearing churches, and their businesses. A pro - Christian judge or president will not be as helpful towards enticing non church goers and non believers into visiting a God -  fearing church and opening up their Bibles to get to intimately know the Lord. A pro - Christian judge or president will not be able to have much influence toward discouraging Americans from opening their hearts and lives to the evils of practicing Yoga, transgenderism, and worshiping immoral music and their performers. That is the job of the true Christians and their churches living and dwelling within the country. But the task appears to be getting more difficult as President Obama and his cronies continue to make and fight for laws pushing immoral, anti-christ activities ahead while pushing the pro-christian activities out. A pro christian judicial member will help but by how much and for how long?
       Judge Scalia, a dedicated catholic, did his part to keep America as Christian as possible. He tried to allow this country to continue to practice as much of its pro-godly duties in as well a capable manner as possible while dwelling in a current world filled with so much carnal influences. America needs more people like Judge Scalia to stand up and partake in these important judicial and political roles so that these positions are not heavily occupied by non-Jesus supporters. These non-Jesus supporters are turning the United States into an atheist country that may soon resemble a nation similar to the one that nailed Jesus Christ to the Cross. A nation that professes to be Christian but in no way behaves like one.
       Who will take over Judge Scalia's place? Who knows? Hopefully the Christian population in America will not "ho hum" through this important event like they tend to do when something both spiritually and politically important occurs. Hopefully they will turn away from their entertainment and hobbies for a moment so that they can grasp what is occurring, pray to God, then precisely follow what the Lord has decided is the next best step. Let us go to the polls and vote for people who will respect God, Christians, while fighting for causes that are for Christ and not against Him. Hopefully Christians will stop voting for people because they recite famous speeches of Martin Luther King, or represent a specific skin color, or political party. Christians need to vote for people and rulings that value God, especially now so, as Judge Scalia fought for throughout his long career, political parasites will not continue to eat away at the Constitution while changing it to fit their desired version of America instead of the version that America was originally designed to represent.

It's Freezing 2016

       Here we go again. Another year another string of the same brutally cold weather and nearly never ending flurries, this time record breaking. The east coast blizzard rampaged over the eastern half of the US  bringing snow down by the tons. Washington DC received an estimated 29 inches of snow on January 22, 2016 beating a record snowfall accumulation set back in 1922. The huge difference is that the snowfall begotten in 1922 occurred over a three day span, January 17-19, 1922 (Simpson, 2016). Washington DC received all of its huge 29 inches of snow on the 22nd of January, 2016. New York City received 18 inches of snow with wind gusting over 50 mph causing Mayor Bill de Blasio to declare a winter weather emergency. Hundreds of residents in Ocean City Maryland lost power in their homes due to storm surge flooding power equipment causing much of the downtown area to go dark. New Jersey received storm and flooding damage almost rivaling Hurricane Sandy. What a day. Just a month ago global warming enthusiasts were barking up and down about the unusually warm month of December the US was receiving and that much of the United States was hardly receiving any snow. "This must be a result of climate change", "global warming", media "experts" kept announcing to their audience, some making sure that they made some kind of snide remark toward their non-believers. It's just funny how one month of warm weather can easily clinch the minds of supposed weather experts. As if in over thousands and thousands of Decembers during the life span of the planet earth the world never ever before experienced a warm winter month. Now all of the sounding the global warming faithful believed that they had their obvious evidence that is irrefutable. But sure enough as they kept talking and internet commentators continued to blab about how educated and smart they are, like a lightning, God sent almost the entire United States East Coast one gigantic snow storm that spanned over a four days. In those four days the storm killed over twenty people. It dumped 12 to 18 inches of snow in Philadelphia and New York (Simpson, 2016), grounded at least 11, 605 flights, flooded communities up and down the east coast forcing roads to close and prompting evacuations. As piles and piles of snows on roads and lawns melted city streets were filling up with water, rivers and lakes were rising higher and higher causing floods near lakes and rivers everywhere. Piles of snow fell through the roofs of many homes and businesses. A lot of buildings and houses were destroyed by floods. Coastal flooding created havoc in states like Delaware. This was not a typical storm. Obviously the mentioning of global warming was announced too soon. But as the stubborn Liberal media shows, it will not back off its insistence that the earth is getting warmer caused by human misdeeds, regardless of how cold it gets here around the world, no matter how many world breaking snowfalls countries around planet receive. These so called educated folks are on a stubborn mission. One can say they are stubborn because almost always when one challenges them with these real world weather events their replies involves the person being "ignorant", "uneducated", or some other word relating to the unbeliever not being intelligent. As if one has to believe every, single word the global warming faithful utters in order to be smart. Hmm, who do they believe they are?
       Well, some people still desire proof. Because someone graduated from Harvard and has a phd does not automatically mean that if he says a hippo can run faster than a deer then he must be right. And if an individual demands proof that this person show him how this hippo can run faster than a deer, does not make the person ignorant or dumb. Actually, it makes him pretty smart.

More to Being a Woman Than Hair and Makeup

       There is more to being a woman than just hair and makeup, admitted Bruce Jenner, aka Caitlyn Jenner, during an interview with Advocate Magazine (Willis, 2016). Something he finally realized after more than six months of introducing himself to the world as this strange but comical character. Yeah, there is obviously more to being a woman than simply applying makeup and having a perm. One does not need to obtain a masters degree at Duke university to finally come to that conclusion. Unfortunately, many people do not comprehend this simple matter. Not only do they not get it but they are continually being fed horse meat by so called experts who either do not know what they are talking about, or know they do not know what they are talking about but are simply taking advantage of Liberal medias open bias towards any statement or action that runs contrary to sanity.

       During the last two years many men and women have brazenly come public, while bragging about them having a sex change, or informing the world that the sex they have been since birth is a lie, that they are actually another sex. People like Chastity Bono, Laverne Cox, Alexis Arquette have led a parade of numerous snap shots and interviews welcoming the audience into this strange world of individuals trying desperately for whatever reasons to be accepted as something that they are definitely not. Myself, while looking at these characters comedic faces, often notice that the Liberal media, ex. "Entertainment Tonight", Access Hollywood, Good Morning America, etc. will always create false impressions while stating only one side of the real stories of these individuals life trek through these adventures. Liberal media always adamantly title these individuals as appearing "beautiful" or "gorgeous" as if saying anything otherwise would be a criminal offense. When looking at a character like Caitlyn Jenner or Chastity Bono one cannot honestly come up with the word "beautiful". Here we are not talking about being politically correct or avoiding attacks from the American Civil Liberty Union. We are talking about stating what is realistically "attractive". I believe that is what Bruce Jenner or Caitlyn,  whatever, means when he says  "There is more to being a woman than hair and makeup".  
One can take a single look at his face and see that he is obviously right. The dude looks ugly. He appears nothing like a woman. He simply appears as a man who has applied lipstick and blush on his face before or after putting on a dress. There is nothing complicating about that. There is nothing homophobic about it. An individual does not have to hate Bruce Jenner to come to this conclusion. I, myself do not even personally know the guy. Looking at him though and being blunt, an individual can give their own personal opinion whether or not this person looks or appears anything like a woman, or anything resembling the word "attractive". A lot of people think he don't.  And by reading his very own comments that he made to the public while admitting to the world that "there is more to being a woman than hair and makeup", he does not believe that he is attractive either.
       About a month ago I read an article from someone talking about the Bruce Jenner in the eighties. The one who most of us thirty and older remember, won the 1976 Summer Olympics gold medal in the decathlon. He was the one always featured on the Wheaties commercials, smiling, pole vaulting, appearing as a winner. Young boys admired him and wanted to grow up to be like him. He later appeared as either a special guest or cast member in dozens of television shows and movies such as: CHiPs, Silver Spoons, Celebrity Family Feud, The Apprentice, etc.. One wonders if maybe all of the stardom he has experienced rang some type of bell in his membrane, creating something psychotic within him. Maybe the guy is financially desperate or one of those individuals who are in frantic need of attention and will do just about anything to obtain it. Maybe being married to the matriarch of the Kardashian's, Kris Jenner, socializing and living with this celebrity of celebrities family struck something within his brain cells, creating a substance in this man that he himself cannot even explain. But, "hey", maybe he finally figured it out. There is more to being a woman than hair and makeup. I hope that Laverne Cox and Chasity Bono are taking notes. Looking at the hard lines on Bruce Jenner's face while he appears every now and then on television, the fact that even he at times hides from the abundant paparazzi.  And after running around and around with the media in their crazy whirlwind of hype and fantasia, one comes to an obvious but very important fact. You cannot change sex. Regardless of how much make up you wear, how many lawsuits you file, how many times media con folks generously call you a male or female, whatever is your opposite sex. Whatever the intensity of the sexual reassignment surgery. Unless one successfully chops of the man's penis and permanently inserts a vagina, removes the guys XY chromosomes and replaces them all with XX, dude is still a dude. Unless the surgeon physically removes the woman's vagina, implants a penis and somehow enables the tool to permanently stick, then somehow enables this woman to be able to fertilize another woman's eggs with her very own newly implanted sperms, this woman will always be a woman. But unfortunately, Liberal Media will continue to con people to waste millions and millions, hundreds of thousands of their own money, as well as years of their time chasing after this fantasy, trying to prove to people they are what they are not. Trying to chase after American politics to change a legal system in order to make them feel confident and happy about who they are, or who they want to be. But as Bruce Jenner figured out, it is all for naught, one big waste of both time and money. For he will always be a man since that was God's plan.

Merry Christmas To You

       Tis the month to express joy and appreciation for Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The only one worthy enough and willing to come down to the earth in order to die a cruel, undeserved death. A death undertaken in order to provide us humans a second chance for life. The first opportunity was doomed when the first man, Adam, was unable to live a pure, perfect life in front of God. But Thank God, one who was, is, and always will be perfect and bless the Lord willing, came down to earth and walked and lived a perfect life. A decision He made Himself to walk the earth. A decision He did not have to say yes to. No, nobody forced Him to come down to Jerusalem. Nobody forced Him to put up with all the verbal and physical abuse, all the spitting, and nasty looks, lies, and deceptions. He could have simply opened His mouth and whished every single individual away. He could have stopped Judas Iscariot on his track and immediately put an end to his plans.  "What you are about to do, do quickly", He said (John 13:27). A lot of us would have been shaking our knees while creating some kind of a quick exit plan. But He said "do quickly". He had no fear, not even a slight hesitation. And He carried on His back His cross, our cross. Our weight, every single one of our sins was hefted upon His shoulders as He carried our infirmities to that place called the Skull. Here His wrists and ankles were nailed to a large wooden crossed. Hanging on a cross, accompanied by two criminals who were more deserving of death He hung, while taking more abuse and verbal taunting by the crowd. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One", Luke 23:35. One of the criminals hanging on his own cross had the nerve to hurl insults at Jesus challenging Him to come down and save Himself. Many of us would have felt insulted and likely replied back but Jesus did not flinch. The other criminal defended Jesus rightfully stating that the two of them deserved their punishment but Jesus did nothing wrong. Christ, being the gracious and forgiving one, told the wise criminal that he will follow Him to paradise. Facing death Christ was still able to be gracious toward another being.
       In the end Jesus committed His spirit into His Father's hand and then breathed His last breath. But then lo and behold in three days Jesus Christ the King defeats death and comes back. This is called the resurrection. He comes back showing His disciples, His followers, and the enemy Satan himself that He has won. Love has won. The real love won not some wanton form of lust sold on television. Christ defeated sin. He has defeated death and all Christians around the world can yell hallelujah and dispel from fear.
       That is why as the media sings and prances while it continues to remind the world about ISIS. And why the media rejoices about gay marriage, and abortion, while urging their audience more and more to reject Jesus Christ and His church. And the reason for television, news, and radio's embracing of Ellen DeGeneres, Lady Gaga, and the message from Islam while discouraging any positive reminders of Christ. The media continues to embrace "Happy Holidays" and Santa Clause while intentionally ignoring the true story of the Birth of Jesus and the real reason for the season. This is the reason why the news should often be seen for what it is just a mass cycle of continuous data full of both good and bad information. Kind of like the Tree of Good and Evil. Be careful of what you digest from that tree. And be ever poring over and digesting the Word so that when someone either in screen or in person speaks nonsense of Christianity or substitutes Happy Holidays for Merry Christmas, or replaces Jesus Christ with Santa Clause, etc., you will know and understand the truth. You will know what God's Word says compared to what Rush Limbaugh or Robin Roberts says. And you will less likely be led astray to follow some cult craze like yoga or feminism that will lead you to nowhere else but death.

       Merry Christmas! God Bless you. May your dreams and wishes come true. Stay grounded on God's Word not the television. Attend a good church. Go to your prayer and Bible talk meetings and don't give up on God.

Singing the Devil's Song

       The Eagles of Death Metal, a previously mostly unknown band except for a fringe of purist heavy metal fans, are now remembered for the band performing their music during France's own version of 911. The band was playing inside the Bataclan Concert Hall, located in Paris France. They were an hour into their show until three men walked in and began firing away. The attack was very deadly killing 130 people and wounding more than 180. A result of hatred from a radical religion that just cannot seem to be able to allow people to breathe and walk the earth outside of the strict guidelines of what is written in their Koran.The news media mentioned much about ISIS the Islamic group behind the attacks, as well as the ringleader of the Paris attacks Abelhamid Abaaoud and his henchmen. News about ISIS growing threat to the United States and much of the western world as well as a rising distrust of the true intentions of the religion of Islam in itself has dominated the media. But a band called titled "The Eagles of Death Metal", their fans, their purpose on stage inside that concert hall has pretty much been kept hush hush, why?
       According to Kevin Swanson, during his radio show, Generation Radio, The Eagles of Death Metal were singing an eerie titled song: "Who Will Love The Devil Who Will Sing His Song"before being violently interrupted by terrorism (Kirwell, 2015). Here is an excerpt of their lyrics:

Who will kiss the devil? Definitely not me. These fellows had no problem kissing the devil and their devoted fans with their pompous bouncing up and down, fist waving excitement were following right behind them. These folks showed their devotion to the devil and Satan awarded them with what he promises all of his followers, death. The group's loyal fans were singing and dancing to the devil. He, in return, presented to them the fire along with the suffering he promises his followers: ⁷ When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison ⁸ and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. ⁹ They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. ¹⁰ And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever Revelation 20:7-10.
       The devil deceived his followers and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. Here in Paris, this same devil used his servants, a rock metal band, to lure their followers into a trap where they were gunned down by another group of servants led on a different mission but with the same purpose, the same end, death. One group being led by fiery lyrics and frenzy band playing what basically amounts to a satanic worship church service. Another group being led by a sermon filled with anger and hatred so strong, so terrible, that it will enable human beings to strap bombs and bullets to their flesh and blow themselves up just for the purpose of creating death. What now? What is the end for these suicide fanatics? The burning fire has not ended for them. They are presently still surrounded by the mighty blaze, still feeling the heat. No, this is not a majestic place of eternal heaven, no beautiful virgins here to satisfy lonely souls. It is the reality of eternal hell that is provided for all nonbelievers who do not accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. And for the people celebrating the devil, they are going straight to his kingdom inside the everlasting fire. Except in their destination there is no partying, no guitar playing, no drum beating, no pretty girls, or sexy men. There is eternal punishment, eternal damnation, The Big Lie. Whew, if only they knew. If only someone could have warned them. Some, perhaps many did receive warning but for one reason or another refused to listen.
       And for the survivors, as they endured their worship service to the devil, we can ask them, did they enjoy his presence? These folks were dancing to the devil's song. They actually witnessed his works as their friends were getting shot up. ⁸ The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work I John 3:8. Again, did they enjoy the works of the devil? It is obvious, the devil does not play and he will not waste time sacrificing his followers if one is foolish enough to offer his or her soul and body on top his platform. The lesson here is that the devil needs to be taken seriously. It is not that we should fear him because when we are armed with God's armor and sword we are much stronger than Satan. But we do not need to be dancing up and down partying with him. We do not need to treat him as if he is our buddy. Forget those rock concerts you see in those music videos with the band members drinking blood and yelling chants to Satan along with their fans. Forget those ladies showing off their bodies for all to see while they engage in crazy sex acts. The consequences for these deeds and immoral behavior are not always immediate, not always witnessed on CNN Headline news, but they do exist. They happen. Females and males are raped. Unwanted pregnancies occur. Friends get involved in freak car accidents where one or more die. Friends commit suicide. Parents lose their children. People lose their jobs. Kids enter their schools and shockingly discover that the kid always wearing the weird grin had just emptied a bunch of bullets on several of their classmates. Friends, peers admit, too late, to themselves that they did not really know their friend real well. It begins somewhere. Why note allow it to end with God?

Not me. I am definitely not marching towards the gates of death just to make a show for someone who hates my guts. I am not singing his song. I am going to sing for Jesus Christ. Jesus hung on the wooden Cross for me with spike nails hammered through his wrists and ankles. He already took the beatings and sufferings for me making it unnecessary for me to have to blow myself up in order to meet paradise. Too bad that Abelhamid Abaaoud did not know about Jesus and His song, His gift. Too bad for Abelhamid Abaaoud's followers who ended up dying as well. They did not get to realize life. They did not get to receive the good news that Jesus Christ was willing to offer them if only they would allow themselves to receive Him. It is terrible that a religion would encourage its followers to end their lives and the lives of others in such violence and America has a Liberal media too unwilling to love the people of this country enough to warn them of such danger instead of bowing down to political correctness. Fortunately America does have people in this country who are willing to share the Good News: that the love and acceptance of Jesus Christ is free. Will you love Jesus? Will you sing His song?
¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. ¹⁸ Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. ¹⁹ This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. ²¹ But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. Halloween's quiet Bye Bye

       When I was a kid Halloween was a big day celebrated by all people from young to old, but especially the young. As children the day would begin with just about every kid in school dressed up in some kind of costume. The older we got the more fancy or clever the costume. Grade school children would dress up like cartoon or comic book characters, Scooby Doo, Batman, Spiderman, Fred Flintstone, etc. In middle school the entire school would gather in the auditorium where each class would pick the best costumes and the student would also pick their favorite costumes from their teachers. Towards the end of the day just about all the children in the neighborhood would go out trick or treating. Kids rang the doorbell continuously throughout the night yelling "Trick or Treat". At the end of the night one would count his/her candy and afterwards make their best effort to make that candy last as long as they could. At least I would.
      But I remember each year during the Halloween season, on the Sunday before the holiday my pastor would always preach to his church a powerful reminder. He would tell us what the true meaning of Halloween is. That this is a holiday meant to celebrate witches and goblins. That this is a night where witches and true satanists held ceremonial rituals praising the devil as well as the dead. He would tell us that some people take this day seriously like Christians do Christmas. He would remind us that every piece, slogan, ritual of the holiday came from some kind of pagan custom or ceremonial observance. Terms like pagan druids, Celtic priests, ghosts, spirits would fill the sermon. Explanations of how Celtic druids wore animal heads and skins to acquire the strength of certain animals and how people would provide food, or treats to the spirits at night for fear of receiving malevolence or some sort of dire consequence for failure to provide properly for them.
       Now as an adult after long moving far from that area I have realized a major change in the holiday. I don't know if it is just this area or society in general but Halloween is not celebrated as loudly as when I was a kid. My children tell me that in their school less than half of their classmates dress up in costumes. There are no school parties, no costume dressing contests, no large gym or auditorium meetings. There is not even any casual passing of candy. During Halloween night only one family knocked on the door to say "Trick or Treat". I know that it is not the neighborhood because in the previous neighborhood we lived in about 3 years ago the trick or treat traffic was similar except there may have been a couple more families knock on the door and these were people we knew. Anyways there was nowhere near a continuous traffic. Halloween just is not what it used to be. But who knows I may be wrong. It may just be because I now live in the south or because I live in suburb of a large metropolitan area. It may be because the city I grew up in was a small town and people were more carefree and trusted each other. Maybe most people in the metro area would not dare allow their children to knock on their neighbors' door and trust what they would place in their bags. Or it might be because the neighborhood is more religious and people here simply are not interested in celebrating a pagan holiday. Whatever the holiday is not the same and I am fine with it. I have no interest in celebrating the devil and make sure to remind my children each year how I feel about this day and why they will never catch me celebrating it. Well one family happened to knock on our door and I was happy to give their children some candy. I was also happy to pass along a fun but informative tract explaining my feelings about the holiday and why a some people do not celebrate it. I hope the message works.
